Richard James is Managing Director, Head of FX Digital Distribution at Deutsche Bank in London.

Mr. James is a senior leader within Deutsche Bank’s Global Foreign Exchange business and brings extensive experience in electronic trading, market structure and strategy. He joined Deutsche Bank in January 2025 with responsibility for all electronic client-facing product development and distribution across FX and Metals. 

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. James co-founded Project Amber, an industry consortium, to promote competition within the FI electronic multi-dealer platform space. He also served at J.P. Morgan in London for 22 years, including as Global Head of Macro Digital Markets (2018-2022), Global Head of FX and EM Digital product (2012-2018), and COO EMEA Rates and Global Securities (2005-2012). Mr. James served on the boards of FX Spot Stream, Capitolis and EuroMTS. 

Mr. James holds a BA in Economic and Social History from Bristol University, UK. He is based in the UK.
