The Payments Canada Summit 2019
CLS’s Kerry Denerstein is speaking at The Payments Canada Summit in Toronto on 14 May 2019. Kerry is joining other industry figures to discuss DLT developments for payments, clearing and settlement activities and what the potential landscape may look like in the future.
Panel discussion: DLT developments for payments, clearing, and settlement
The Bank of England Staff Paper 670 (2017) characterizes DLT as both a radical innovation (i.e. one that has high impact), as well as a systemic one (i.e. one that affects the entire value chain and not just one or a few components). But at this stage, it’s not clear how DLT might ultimately affect the post trade sector – whether the impact will be radical and/or systemic. This panel brings together representatives from the public and private sector to discuss the current use of blockchain for payments, clearing, and settlement activities and what the potential landscape may look like in the near and distant future.

CLS Regulatory Round-up
The regulatory landscape around the use of FinTech – such as distributed ledger technology (DLT) or blockchain – is nascent but rapidly evolving. CLS is actively engaged with central banks, authorities, standard-setting bodies, and market participants in this area. We monitor, identify and report on regulatory developments of particular interest to our members and the broader post-trade sector.
