Margaret Law, Head of Client Management APAC, and Makoto Miyazaki, General Manager – Japan and Korea, recently authored an article for Ignites Asia, a FT service, about recent trends in the Japanese pension funds space.

Pension funds in the Asia Pacific region are under pressure to reform as demographics and other environmental factors begin to shift. The region’s pension funds’ index value is declining, which has prompted some countries to take active measures to improve the adequacy, sustainability and integrity of their retirement systems. In Japan, pension and investment trust funds have both increased cross-border investments over time, aiming to improve performance to better support its aging population.
